Review of Dar Nilam Tangier, Morocco

Tucked away in the quiet outer district of Malabata bay, the gorgeous Dar Nilam – literally “house of the blue diamond” – is the perfect place for those looking for peaceful ambiance and attentive service.

Hidden behind the totally unremarkable exterior is an exceptional establishment with grand spaces and lovely, lushly planted gardens. A small oasis of lush greenery and calm with fruit trees, aromatic plants and even exotic varieties such as the Mexican hanging flowers which survive on light alone.

The ground floor consists of three impressive salons, constructed around an elegant central lobby which makes up the reception. You will immediately appreciate the traditional Moroccan architecture and the elegant wall adornments and furniture that enhance the spaces. From here, you can take the staircase to the first flour which houses the five sumptuous guest rooms, adorned with rose petals and fresh flowers, and a beautiful reading room complete with grand views over the sea and its own fireplace.

Besides the shiny swimming pool, Dar Nilam has its own “Oriental Zen” space dedicated to well-being: Hammam baths, massages, Shiatsu, Stone therapy, reflexology, Chinese massage and Korean relaxation treatments. Affable and personable young hosts Rachid and Faty el Amrani offer fine Moroccan cuisine.
