Review of Dar Mouchka Tangier, Morocco
Tucked in Tangier’s countryside and overlooking it Bay, Dar Mouchka serves as the perfect base for exploring the nature and sweetness of life in Tangier. The guesthouse small scale allows for a high level of intimacy and a peaceful atmosphere, while its privileged location on the heights of Tangier will let you immerse in the natural surroundings and enjoy the panoramic view of the Sea of Tangier, where the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean meet.
You immediately feel that you are in the north of Morocco, more specifically Chefchaouen, with exteriors awash in blues and white. Haven of peace, the patio is a gentle introduction to the beauty of the natural landscape around: looking down on a lawn and a garden full of fruit trees ad beyond, the never ending green hills. Adjacent is the living room, with brilliant fabrics and inviting leather poufs that beckon you to relax and enjoy a convivial moment.
There are five colourfully charming suites, with a decoration reflecting a rich and careful blend of Oriental and Occidental styles. Each beautifully decorated suite carries its own unique personality and named for its dominant colour. The units incorporate several materials including traditional plaster and beige cement tiles, as well as a lovely palette of white and gold tones. Many of the suites also have private balconies or terraces from which you can enjoy quiet moments of reflection and, at dusk, admire the sunset over the Bay of Tangier.
Owner Catherine cultivates the art of hospitality that combines conviviality, a respect for privacy and culinary delights. She organises excursions to discover Tangier and the North of Morocco as well as offering a very impressive Moroccan cuisine that is both refined and creative.
