Review of Riad Zamane Fes, Morocco

Conveniently located right in the heart of the Medina, a few minutes’ walk from Bab Boujloud, Riad Zamane is a luxurious guesthouse that marries authentic Arabic art with design and sobriety. An early last century riad, like its meaning in Arabic language, it has been restored with taste and attention to details by her owner Mrs Sakina Belcadi, a native of Fez.

The remarkable riad fuses natural local design elements with contemporary influences of Arabic art and craft. The result is an eclectic yet demure elegance that permeates throughout the manor’s generous spaces, imparting harmonious ambiance and comfort.

Rooms are all rigorously authentic in the Moroccan furnishings and details, many with canopied beds dressed in rich sumptuous crimson silks and wrought iron architectural features and light flowing fabric treatments gently swaying to the warm Moroccan breeze.

On the last floor, the terrace, the solarium and point of view which overhang the old city of Fez are the ideal place for breakfast and to take the sun in day, or to have dinner and to consider the starry sky in party. To experience a soothing experience, head to the extravagant Hammam finished in ochre-coloured zellij and fine porcelain washbasins.

Riad Zamane Fez offers a refined cuisine typically from Fez, carefully cooked up by Sakina, native of Fez; a passion that she developed from her childhood and in which the secrets are transmitted from generations. Guests have the opportunity to benefit from cooking lessons, alone or in group, given by Sakina herself.
