Review of Dar Cordoba Fes, Morocco
Dar Cordoba is a beautiful small riad located in a residential street of the Batha district in the old Medina. The Spanish owners have managed to combine Moroccan and Andalusian themes to perfection, a world where the past remains intact. This feeling, together with the warm hospitality offered by the riad’s personnel, will make a stay at Dar Cordoba a pleasant and lasting experience.
The Dar is centred around a three-storey interior courtyard decorated with stuccoworks, zellij and cedar wood, and furnished with crystal and forged tables, pith chairs and lush vegetation making it the perfect play to unwind and relax. The patio opens into an ornate salon furnished with Moroccan sofas, where guests can have dinner, chat or simply relax.
Accommodation space at Dar Cordoba consists of 4 sumptuous suites and a smaller-sized room. All rooms are decorated in traditional Fez style, with Fez-style tadelakt, carved plaster, cedar wood ceilings and traditional mosaics. The furnishings are not the most sumptuous or showy, but they definitely add to the intimacy, warmth and simple joie de vivre of the Dar.
Dar Cordoba has two terraces affording superb views over the Medina. The first is located in the third floor, furnished with traditional zellij tables and forged iron chairs, where you can have mint tea and enjoy the peacefulness of the place while listening to the call of the muezzin. The second roof terrace, furnished with sofas and Moroccan carpets, is the ideal place to enjoy panoramic views over the Medina, the mountains and olive groves around Fez.
