Review of Dar Attajalli Fes, Morocco

Dar Attajalli is charming riad located in the heart of Fez medina, only some steps away from the historical sights and lively alleys of the bazaars. The small guesthouse is an architectural jewel that fits in well with the age old Medina, yet provides a sanctuary of tranquillity and luxury.

This historic house which has been home to Alaouite descendants is a small palace and architectural gem. Careful and meticulous restoration with natural materials and a lot of heart and soul of the German proprietor brought Dar Attajalli back to its former splendour.

Dar Attajalli offers 4 tastefully furnished and exquisitely decorated suites each of which has its own unique personality, style and colour. The impressive Mosaic Room is spacious with opulence of mural mosaics, wood and stucco adornment and a high cedar ceiling. The Mauve Suite has its own features, including a private staircase and a fancy bathtub in the spacious bathroom. The Orange Suite enchants with warm colours and antiques from 1001 nights. The Purple Suite is pure romance with its queen-size four-poster double bed, a chaise longue, tastefully selected local antiques and its all purple bathroom.

Together with the individual suites, you can chill in the classy “salon marocain” with a book from the library or using the internet. Go upstairs to enjoy the rooftop winter garden with its tea kitchen and dining area, or lounge on the ample roof terrace with its lush flora and stunning view over the magical medina.
