Ceuta’s top pick is the Gran Hotel la Muralla, a characterful four-star parador on the main square of town.

The hotel is attached to the old Murallas Reales walls, an impregnable fortress with a series of artillery and cannon emplacements that constitute Ceuta’s focal historical monument. Given this unique location, the hotel has spectacular views over the city’s historical quarter, the sea and mainland Spain.

Rooms are spacious, comfortable and with modern amenities, although the furniture has a classical feel. The building itself retains elements from different civilisation, with a strong Moorish influence.
